Introducing the Honda Road Readers App

April 13th, 2016 by

These days, it seems like every new vehicle comes equipped with a multimedia entertainment system to keep the back seat happy. But with the Honda Road Readers App, parents from Baton Rouge, Denham Springs, and Gonzales can turn driving time into an educational experience. In partnership with Downpour, Honda has created an app that makes accessible to parents a carefully curated selection of top-selling children’s audiobooks, as well as a collection of classic children’s literature in audio, that will keep your children engaged and stimulated both on long drives and short.

The Honda Road Readers App

2016 Honda Accord DrivingThe average child spends 4 hours a week in the car, as she is dropped off at school, driven to doctor’s appointments, and zipped out of town on weekend excursions. Luckily, Baton Rouge, Denham Springs, and Gonzales parents can make the most of this time by downloading the Honda Road Readers app for their children. The app—which is the product of close collaboration between Honda, the Council of Chief State School Officers, and the National Teacher of the Year Program—offers parents and children a selection of texts that are both developmentally and aesthetically significant. Not only that, but it’s both free and easy to access: Honda owners need only download it from an Apple of Android store to their smartphone, and then use their 17-character vehicle identification number to open it. Honda drivers will then have access to five audio texts, including works like J. M. Barrie’s Peter Pan, that are perfect for children between 5 and 16. Moreover, the Honda Road Readers app organizes each audio text according to age-group and genre: for example, parents looking for an adventure book can choose the “Adventure” option, while those looking for a book suitable for ages 9-12 can search the “Age 9-12” list.
