Coming Together: Richards Honda’s 5 Tips for Vehicles Affected by the Flood
We are deeply saddened to see the impact that the recent floods have had on our communities. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected. We were very fortunate that Richards Honda did not incur any flood damage as a result of the storm. There were no vehicles on our lot that were flooded and for that we are extremely thankful. We realize that many in the surrounding areas were not as fortunate, so we want you to know that we are here to help! Which is why we’ve put together this list of 5 simple and necessary steps you should take to protect your vehicle:
1. DO NOT Attempt to Start Your Vehicle
If there is water in your engine, attempting to start the vehicle can cause even more damage.
2. Contact Your Insurance Company As Soon As Possible
They will assist you in starting the insurance claim process. Please do not have your vehicle towed to the dealership unless your insurance company instructs you to do so.
3. Dry Out Your Vehicle’s Interior
If weather permits, open up your vehicle and allow it to dry out. The longer the water sits, the more likely it is for mold to grow.
4. Contact Your GAP Insurance Provider
If you purchased GAP insurance, please wait until your vehicle insurance provider settles your claim before you contact the GAP policy provider. Once your insurance company has settled your claim, you should then reach out to the GAP insurance policy provider.
If you purchased a vehicle at our dealership prior to March 1, 2016 then the GAP insurance provider is most likely going to be LDS/Loss Deficiency Surety Insurance Company, Inc. (225-769-9923) If your vehicle was purchased after March 1, 2016 then the GAP insurance provider is most likely going to the The Ethos Group/Western Diversified Services,Inc. (888-791-0777).
